These Terms of Service govern your use of the RareKids-CAN website. RareKids-CAN is operated by the Maternal, Infant, Child and Youth Research Network (MICYRN), a Canadian not-for-profit organization. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
1. Purpose of this website
This website provides general information about RareKids-CAN, pediatric rare disease research, clinical trial readiness, educational resources, registries, training opportunities, events, and ways to connect with our network.
The website and its databases are provided for informational and educational purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, regulatory advice, or research ethics review. Always consult an appropriately qualified professional before making health, research, legal, or regulatory decisions. If you or someone else may be experiencing a medical emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.

We work to keep the website useful, accurate, and current. However, rare disease research, clinical trial information, registry information, guidance documents, events, and external resources can change quickly. We do not guarantee that any content is complete, accurate, current, or suitable for a particular purpose. Inclusion of a registry, organization, study, resource, or opportunity does not constitute an endorsement or guarantee of eligibility, availability, safety, or quality.
We may update, suspend, withdraw, or restrict any part of the website without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access.

You may use this website for lawful personal, educational, clinical, research, and other non-commercial purposes consistent with the purpose of RareKids-CAN. You must not:

4. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, content created for this website, including text, graphics, branding, design, and software, is owned by or licensed to MICYRN and RareKids-CAN and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view, download, print, and share reasonable excerpts for personal, educational, or non-commercial research purposes, provided that you do not alter the content, remove notices, or misrepresent its source.
Some resources, publications, logos, images, databases, and linked materials are owned by third parties and may be subject to separate terms or licences. Those terms continue to apply. For permission to reproduce substantial portions of RareKids-CAN content or to use it commercially, contact us.
5. Forms and information you submit
If you submit a contact form, newsletter request, consultation request, or other information, you agree that the information is accurate and that you have the right to provide it. Do not send confidential medical records, personal health information, research participant information, or other sensitive information through a general website contact form unless the form specifically requests it and explains how it will be handled.
Submitting a form does not create a clinician-patient, researcher-participant, sponsor, advisory, contractual, or other professional relationship. Requests are subject to review, capacity, eligibility, and any separate agreements or approvals that may be required.
6. Third-party websites and services
This website links to or embeds services operated by third parties, including research institutions, registries, publications, event platforms, REDCap forms, maps, social media platforms, and other resources. Third-party websites have their own terms, privacy practices, accessibility standards, and security controls. RareKids-CAN and MICYRN do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, availability, or practices. A link does not necessarily imply endorsement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without representations, warranties, or conditions of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.
